‘김 부장’ 웃을 때 아니다…‘제 대리’ 자리잡자 닥친 일 [AI 일자리 지각변동]
Will “Assistant Chae” (ChatGPT) and “Assistant Je” (Gemini) take over “Assistant Kim’s” role within the next one to two years? As generative artificial intelligence (AI) services are rapidly being integrated into workplace tasks at companies, concerns are growing across industries over a “major AI-driven shift in jobs.” In particular, there are 전망 that workforce restructuring will become inevitable as AI use becomes routine, especially at large corporations and in high-paying occupations.
According to a survey on “Corporate AI use and its impact on jobs” conducted by JoongAng Ilbo through Korea Opinion Research on May 28 and 29 among 327 large, mid-sized, small and public companies nationwide, eight out of 10 companies (79.5 percent) said they have already officially introduced AI into their operations or plan to do so soon (95 percent confidence level, margin of error ±5.42 percentage points).
In particular, the larger the company and the higher the salary level of the occupation, the greater the use of AI. While eight out of 10 large companies (77.3 percent) and occupations with an average monthly wage of 8 million won or more (78.7 percent) said they are using AI in their work, only two to three out of 10 small and medium-sized companies (28.9 percent) and occupations with an average wage of less than 2 million won (18.8 percent) were using AI in the workplace.
AI has taken root deeply not only in the service sector (54.5 percent) but also in manufacturing (60.5 percent). In manufacturing, AI was used mainly for research and development (57.1 percent) and production operations (53.1 percent), while in services it was concentrated in office work such as document processing and translation (59 percent) and customer service (41.8 percent).
